Are you ready? This is one of the most common questions asked during the end-of-year holiday season.
Your answer may vary depending on the context.
Financially, have you completed everything you intended to do this year? You likely have one last paycheck to bump up your 401(k) contribution for 2023. You have a week or so to fulfill your Required Minimum Distribution or make a Qualified Charitable Distribution. If you are lucky, you may even be able to process a year-end charitable gift of appreciated assets or even a last-minute Roth conversion.
Are you ready for the financial end of the year? The answer should be yes.
Emotionally, the prospect of traveling or hosting can create a mix of anticipation and anxiety. There are family traditions to carry out, meals to be planned, and presents to be purchased and wrapped. The list of preparations can be intimidating, the energy waning, and the pressure to live up to our own or others’ expectations exhausting.
Are you ready for the emotional end of the year? The answer is probably not.
Spiritually, Christmas is the beginning of a promise fulfilled. A Savior born in the humblest of circumstances. The first grace-filled step in God’s plan for salvation.
Are you ready for the spiritual beginning of the year? Hopefully!
From our IAG family to yours, have a very blessed Christmas celebration.
Quote of the week: Luke 2:10-12: “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
