The Christmas season is supposed to be full of joy – the birth of a Savior, the gathering of families, and giving of gifts.

Yet for many people Christmas can be a struggle. The message of a Savior can easily be missed, the family gatherings turn lonely, or the gift-giving focuses on what you get instead of what you give.

This year the financial markets seem intent on sapping your joy as well. This month is on track to be a December to remember for its sour mood.

Instead of focusing on joy sappers, we all would be better off reflecting on reasons to celebrate.

First, September 20, 2026, is still a long way off. Why does that matter? September 20, 2026, would be the eight-year anniversary of the record high that the S&P 500 Index set on September 20, 2018. We design our client portfolios and cash flow plans to put time on your side to help weather storms like this.

While there are no guarantees, hopefully by September 20, 2026, the stock market will have reached at least one new record high. In the meantime, the more conservative investments in your portfolio could bring you more joy.

Second, we are truly blessed to live in the United States of America. This is probably the greatest physical blessing that a person could receive in the world today.

Third, our gift of salvation in a manger. No gift can bring greater eternal joy.

From all of us at IAG Wealth Partners, have a very joyful Christmas!

Quote of the week:  Luke 2:10: “But the angel said to [the shepherds], “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”
