One of the staples of summertime in the Milwaukee area is our world-famous music festival, Summerfest. Walking in the gates, you immediately get the smell of the incredible food stands and the sounds of live music coming from all over.

What makes Summerfest special is it appeals to such a wide variety of people from all walks of life. Concerts start in the early afternoon and go past midnight. Every year there are artists of every genre of music, from country to hip-hop to rock & roll. The featured artists this year range from James Taylor to The Killers to Benson Boone. There’s someone to see for every age group and every music fan.

I try and make it to Summerfest at least once every year. Some of my most unforgettable nights have been the concerts I’ve seen at the amphitheater like Maroon 5, Odesza, and Zach Bryan.

Summerfest figured out the key to a successful music festival is diversification. A music festival featuring all jazz musicians or all folk musicians would probably not get the same turnout.
